We are hiring a Systems Administrator with a software development background for the Canadian-based portion of our Systems Team. This team is a group of automation-minded Linux Systems Administrators who run our production infrastructure.
As a System Administrator at Kira Systems you will be managing our customer-facing production and monitoring environments around the globe across our expanding product line. We believe in exposing our team to all aspects of our platforms. As a team member you will help design, test, stage and implement platform changes throughout our internal and public systems as your comfort and expertise grows. In return, you will have the opportunity to learn and work with both AWS and Azure and leverage your knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, and various automation tools; also, where there aren’t appropriate tools already, there is the opportunity to extend existing tools or write new ones, . Our Systems Team is dedicated to building and automating our infrastructure using Bash, Python, Go, and Ansible while running and maintaining our core technology. The core of this is teamwork, however, so collaboration and attention to detail are a must.
This role is assigned to our Headquarters in Toronto. We are currently all working from home due to COVID-19. After the pandemic, the candidate who fills this role will have the option of remaining 100% from-home, or switching to an office-based work pattern.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Design and deployment of automation scripts
- Improve and maintain site availability, scalability, service and system performance
- Architect and develop infrastructure with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Design and provision infrastructure components (e.g., Kubernetes, Autoscaling)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across our entire engineering organization
- Troubleshoot and solve problems within our production environment
What You Bring:
- Advanced knowledge of AWS
- 5+ years of Systems Administration background in Linux environments
- Advanced Automation scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Go
- Sound knowledge of cloud-native design patterns and DevOps principles
- Working familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm
- Working familiarity with SQL
- Experience with both SaaS and On-Premise hosting models
- Excellent communication skills, team work, curiosity, ability to work in a diverse and ambiguous environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
