Kira Systems

This job listing expired on Sept. 23, 2021, 9:14 p.m.
Location: Toronto
Employment Type: Full-time
We’re Kira Systems. We’ve built machine learning software that enlightens the world’s enterprises by enabling them to truly know what’s in their contracts and documents. We’re deliberate in our decision making, clear on our mission and – most importantly – passionate about pairing the power of human know-how with a powerful product.

We’ve got an HQ in Toronto, but we’re a global workforce. From building trusted partnerships with our clients to delivering an employee experience that is second to none, our people are at the center of all that we do.

We are hiring a Senior Quality Engineer to join our cross-functional team of high performing Developers, Quality Engineers, Product Manager, Designer, and Researcher responsible for strengthening the connectivity of our product and the ability of our clients to put data in and out of our unique product.

We are good at testing… but we want to take good to great!

Our developers run their own unit tests, we have some automation suites, and we do new feature testing and run well organized internal Beta programs with every release. So to take us to the next level, we need a talented Senior Quality Engineer who can help us expand our test coverage in both automated and manual, but also help us strategize the most appropriate testing method. Bring your expertise and make us better, make us improve.

We expect the successful candidate to be able to think of the product holistically and question how the product works and how it can break. They are expected to craft and implement automated tests for a mission critical, scalable externally facing SaaS application.

Since our establishment we have come far and have built a powerful tool relied upon by thousands of users every day. You will be testing serious software and have fun doing it. We strive to constantly learn, question the crowd, push the boundaries of existing technology, and solve difficult problems.

This is currently a remote role since we have been working from home due to Covid-19.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Working closely with our developers and other testing stakeholders, develop strategies to improve Kira’s automated and manual testing processes using industry best practices that will improve testing productivity in a security-minded environment with corporate compliance implications.
  • Explore and devise approaches to integration and regression testing of modules that integrate with third-party SaaS offerings.
  • Help look at tools for system-level testing and UI testing and implement automated improvements in these areas.
  • Hands-on testing, and automated functional and API testing
  • Report on successes and failures of regression tests through automated frameworks (e.g. dashboards) and manually, and develop ways to integrate test coverage tracking with requirements management tools.
  • Plan and estimate efforts to perform feature testing over each release cycle.
  • Become a product expert and mentor other QEs to improve their understanding of the product and their role in the planning process.
  • Continuously drive improvements in how we do testing of Kira software.
  • Works closely with development, support, systems, and other Kira stakeholders involved in ensuring our software is of the highest quality.
  • Provides guidance in the preparation of technical appraisals of testing tools and software.

What You Bring

  • Ability to work independently, as part of a software team, and as a contributor within distributed virtual teams.
  • Communication, project management skills and problem solving skills across functional lines.
  • Experience with Test Management tools such as Zephyr or QMetry.
  • Experience automating integration and functional testing using tools such as Selenium and Jmeter is essential.
  • Critical thinking, an eye for detail, and have the curiosity to both find ways to find failures in the product and to understand its implementation.
  • Mastery of generating test scenarios, test plans and strategy.
  • Experience designing and performing non-functional testing, including performance, load and stress testing, in a large scale distributed application environment.
  • Knowledge of Java is required, but C# is an acceptable alternative (learning Java will be required). JavaScript, Go, or knowledge of a functional language would be a nice bonus.
  • Comfortable with Agile methodologies and fixed-cycle iterative methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of QA process, test verification and validation methodologies.
