Kepler is on a Mission to bring the internet to space. Incorporated in 2015, Kepler’s guiding star is to enable the space economy through the creation of a communication network in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) that will provide connectivity services to other space missions, be they on orbit in LEO, MEO, GEO, or beyond.  With an expanding base of early customers and our first 19 satellites in orbit, Kepler is continuing to grow and expand its most important asset – the Team! Based out of our HQ in Toronto and with an office in the UK and a newly formed office in the US we are building towards a truly global company delivering a product for the whole world.

As a KeplerProgram Manager, you will own top level program execution and implement high-level program initiatives to grow and nurture our global partnerships and maintain our upward trajectory of success and growth. Ultimately, if you are motivated by the desire to optimize productivity and nurture program success from inception to completion; you are flexible and adaptive to a rapidly evolving work environment.
 
As a Program Manager you will oversee support for our contracts with various civil space agencies and government bodies. These contracts are often R&D and innovation based, but may include component hardware build and delivery.  You will be a key leader, partnering closely with our product organization and engineering resources to manage closure on contract deliverables, along with associated operationalization efforts required that span the full contract lifecycle from proposal to final payment. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying and seeking new grant opportunities within various civil space arenas and working closely with our contracts and technical writing team to bid on these opportunities. 

Responsibilities:

  • As a leader, you will have a strong talent for project coordination and delegation.
  • Working closely with the program management office, finance team, and contracts team to develop proposals, develop reporting methodologies to meet contractual requirements, develop financial tracking tools for the various contracts.
  • Developing presentations for the Kepler leadership team on status and opportunities.
  • Managing agency partner expectations, communicating efficiently; anticipating and being highly responsive to partner needs.
  • Identifying any barriers to successful program execution and escalating as appropriate.
  • Generating/managing program schedule and identifying milestones.
  • Driving and tracking progress against program milestones.
  • Conducting internal program meetings while also tracking and following-up with action items.
  • Identify and manage program risks and opportunities, including prioritization, mitigation, escalation, and resolution.
  • For hardware deliverables, working closely with the supply chain to ensure supply requirements are met throughout the lifecycle of the program.
  • Ability to be rigorous about process, coaching and guiding to get teams to align and move forward.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or relevant technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Aerospace Program Management and/or Systems Engineering in a high reliability environment.
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expert organizational skills.
  • Experience maintaining and reporting on program cost and budgets.

Bonus Points:

  • 2+ years of experience with civil space agency contracts management or accounts management.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in aerospace systems engineering
  • Knowledge and / or experience in Program Management for Space.
  • Knowledge and / or experience in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and / or experience in flight software development and programmatic needs. 
  • Agile transformation experience.
  • Master of Business Administration.
