The Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT) is a highly specialized adjudicative tribunal that hears appeals of final decisions of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Reporting into the Director of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst provides actionable insights that support informed decision-making across the organization. This role is key to ensuring that financial data is accurately represented and leveraged for process improvements, aligning with WSIAT's mission to enhance efficiency and transparency.

What can I expect to do in this role?

• Develop, maintain, and utilize advanced SAGE Intacct functionalities to create comprehensive advanced financial reports that support strategic planning.
• Perform complex data extraction and financial analysis to produce detailed, actionable reports that inform key decisions across WSIAT's operational functions.
• Regularly update reporting templates and dashboards within SAGE to reflect changes in financial performance and ensure consistency in reporting accuracy.
• Provide insights into WSIAT's financial health by identifying key performance indicators and trends, offering forward-looking projections and analysis to the Finance Director and other senior leaders.
• Collaborate with the Finance Director and department leads to drive the budgeting process, using SAGE Intacct to create projections, actionable insight, design data templates and models that align with organizational goals.
• Coordinate financial planning processes, including budgeting and forecasting, while ensuring alignment with the WSIAT's strategic goals.
• Monitor budget adherence across departments, offering regular updates and recommendations to ensure financial alignment with WSIAT's strategic priorities.
• Identify variances and work with stakeholders to adjust budgets as needed, fostering a culture of fiscal responsibility and proactive management.
• Serve as a finance business partner, working closely with department heads and teams to provide them with relevant financial insights that drive their operational and strategic goals.
• Conduct financial analysis that addresses the unique needs of various departments, offering data-driven recommendations to improve efficiency and resource allocation.
• Engage in cross-functional meetings to understand department-specific financial needs and help align their objectives with WSIAT's financial strategy.
• Closely work with Accounting Manager and Procurement and Contract Management Manager in drawing historical data trends and process enhancements.
• Continuously evaluate financial data to identify areas of operational inefficiency and potential cost savings, working proactively to recommend and implement improvements.
• Introduce process improvements within the finance team and other departments by leveraging SAGE Intacct's analytical tools, reducing redundancies, and automating tasks wherever possible.
• Analyze spending trends and resource utilization across departments, providing insights into cost-saving opportunities and optimal budget allocation.
• Ensure financial data integrity and compliance with WSIAT's policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining transparency and consistency in financial reporting.
• Act as a key contributor to the Finance Department's strategic initiatives, developing and implementing best practices that align with WSIAT's organizational values.
• Stay informed on industry trends and innovations, especially related to financial systems and recommend relevant updates to strengthen WSIAT's financial management capabilities.
• Provides guidance to department heads and team members by offering financial insights and recommendations by taking ownership of key financial reporting and analysis tasks and contributing to the Finance Department's strategic initiatives.
• Applies advanced analytical skills to evaluate complex financial data, identify trends, and recommend actionable improvements.
• Interprets key performance indicators, conducts variance analyses, and offers forward-looking financial projections.

Program Responsibility:
• Leads the preparation of budget templates, financial reporting dashboards in Sage Intacct, prepare and deliver financial reports across WSIAT for data-driven decision-making.
• Ensures that financial data is accurately represented and leveraged for process improvements, aligning with WSIAT's mission to enhance efficiency and transparency.
• Works in partnership with the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance to find process enhancements to consolidate cost savings across the WSIAT.
• Works closely with department heads and teams, as a finance business partner, to provide relevant financial insights, create accurate financial projections, and monitor budget adherence, providing updates and recommendations that drive operational and strategic goals and ensure financial alignment with WSIAT's strategic priorities.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge and Experience:

• Knowledge of financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting policies, processes and standards, as well as industry/market financial best practices, regulatory compliance and cost optimization techniques to perform complex data extraction and financial analysis to produce detailed, actionable reports
• Ability to analyze spending trends and resource utilization across departments and to ensure financial integrity and compliance with WSIAT policy and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of relevant accounting/finance legislation and system/accounting processes and procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in SAGE Intacct to leverage its functionalities to create reports, analyze financial data, and support decision-making.
• Knowledge of the unique business requirements of WSIAT departments, including their operations, programs, and strategic goals to provide relevant insights and conduct financial analysis activities that address their unique needs.
• Experience with computer applications for word processing, spreadsheet, database to create various financial reports and related documentation.
• Proactive decision-making to identify inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and address discrepancies in financial data; takes initiative to implement process enhancements and ensure data integrity.

Communication Skills:

• Verbal and written communications to provide advisory services to clients, prepare and present financial reports and related documents, to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Interpersonal and collaboration skills to engage in meetings to foster cross-departmental relationships and provide relevant financial insights that drive operational and strategic goals and promote fiscal responsibility.
