WHAT YOU'LL DO


Be part of a team that is transforming BCG into a bionic company! In 2017, BCG introduced our internally-facing Finance Data Warehouse. In 2021, this tech stack was migrated to Snowflake/DBT. To date, our teams have launched and operationalized several global scale products and dashboards on top of this data warehouse, enhancing how our leaders engage in information to manage the business. The next wave of digital reporting is underway which will help to unlock further value for BCG functions and leadership with best-in-class business intelligence and analytics.
We are seeking an individual to manage this enterprise asset and provide architectural and technical leadership to our Agile team. Other responsibilities include collaborating with Enterprise Data Architecture to enforce architectural best practices and standards, manage the overall health, and build a roadmap that supports the goals of the broader Business Intelligence & Analytics teams.

The candidate will be responsible for BCG’s Finance data assets in terms of health, quality, roadmap, and standards. This individual will bring a strong operations excellence mindset with the ability to think innovatively about optimizing processes for speed, stability, and scalability. Work will focus on automating and optimizing processes for the new cloud tech stack, improving operations and support, integrating new data sources, enhancing KPIs, and architecture oversight. There will be close collaboration with software vendors and system integrators to plan and design application changes (including upgrades), and shape delivery and deployment processes (including DevOps).

YOU'RE GOOD AT

  • Delivering long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards in conjunction with data users, department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
  • Defining the data architecture framework, standards, and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, reference data such as product codes and client categories, and master data such as clients, vendors, materials, and employees
  • Building and optimizing robust ETL patterns
  • Strong knowledge of industry best practices around data architecture in both cloud based and on prem solutions.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills are essential, enabling easy interpretation and analysis of large volumes of data.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the principles of and best practices behind data engineering, and the supporting technologies such as RDBMS, NoSQL, Cache & In-memory stores.
  • Experience of architecting data solution across hybrid (cloud, on premise) data platforms.
  • A comprehensive understanding of data warehousing and data transformation (extract, transform and load) processes and the supporting technologies
  • Creating end-to-end vision on how logical design translates into one or more physical databases, and how the data will flow through the successive stages.
  • Experience of mapping key Enterprise data entities to business capabilities and applications
  • Designing a data infrastructure that supports complex data analytics services
  • Providing technical leadership and direction for a company’s engineering teams
  • Design data models and Creating diagrams that show key data entities and creating an inventory of the data needed to implement solutions
  • Designing modern, scalable cloud data environments which enable the realization of business objectives
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Leveraging DevOps principles to ensure mature, reliable deployments and operations
  • Partnering closely with users and colleagues to provide a high level of customer service in a friendly, professional manner
  • Creative problem solving with strong analytical abilities
  • Working independently with general direction and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills across cultures in English
  • Integrity and a positive attitude, especially while handling stressful situations

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)


  • College degree and 7+ years experience developing BI solutions in a commercial IT setting, or in consulting. Leadership of technical teams and vendors during significant phases of implementation projects.
  • Hands-on implementation experience with Data Warehousing solutions and architecture skills including design, modelling, consumption, rendering, administration, and optimization.
  • Strong operations mindset, with experience optimizing operations processes and delivering DevOps excellence.
  • Experience with cloud data platform(s) such as Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query.
  • Experience in modern analytic platform tooling such as Python, DBT, GIT, Jenkins, Airflow or other similar products
  • Experience in agile development environments with all aspects of SDLC

YOU'LL WORK WITH


Working with internal and external developers, Business Leaders, software vendors and other service providers, this person closely interacts with colleagues in our Finance Systems agile delivery teams, the Database Administration (DBA) Group, and the infrastructure operations team to provide high quality applications that respond to and meet the business needs of the global BCG organization
