Location: Toronto
Employment Type: Full-time
We’re Kira Systems. We’ve built machine learning software that enlightens the world’s enterprises by enabling them to truly know what’s in their contracts and documents. We’re deliberate in our decision making, clear on our mission and – most importantly – passionate about pairing the power of human know-how with a powerful product.

We’ve got an HQ in Toronto, but we’re a global workforce. From building trusted partnerships with our clients to delivering an employee experience that is second to none, our people are at the center of all that we do.

Kira Systems is hiring an Intermediate Quality Engineer to join our cross-functional team of high performing Developers, Quality Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, and UX Researchers responsible for developing new features as well as maintaining our flagship product.

We are currently good at testing …. but we want to take good to great!
Our developers test their own code, we have some automation suites, we do new feature testing and run well organized internal Beta programs with every release. So, to take us to the next level, we need a talented Quality Engineer who can help us expand our test coverage, both automated and manual, and also help us strategize the most appropriate testing method. We expect the successful candidate to be able to work with code, just as we expect our developers to do testing. Our application has a clustered architecture using Clojure and ClojureScript, and deals with high volume workloads in unpredictable bursts.

This is currently a remote role since we have been working from home due to Covid-19.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Review requirements, specifications, and other deliverables for testability and for scope of testing effort
  • Develop and execute test plans and test cases based on requirements
  • Own our Product Manual QA phase, where you will verify newly developed features meet product and design acceptance criteria
  • Leverage test infrastructure to automate end-to-end tests, including both functional and visual tests
  • Log defects into defect management tool with clear descriptions following documented processTriage and help to resolve end-to-end test failures
  • Execute release regression testing to ensure our software is of the highest quality
  • Continuously drive improvements in how we do testing of Kira software
  • Work closely with development, support, systems, and other Kira stakeholders involved in ensuring our software is of the highest quality.

What You Bring

  • Ability to work independently, as part of a software team, and as a contributor within distributed virtual teams.
  • Communication, collaboration skills and problem solving skills across functional lines.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and fixed-cycle iterative methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of QA process, test verification and validation methodologies.
  • Experience with Selenium is required.  Knowledge of Cypress may be helpful.
  • Knowledge of Java or C# for the purpose of writing automation scripts.
  • Experience with Test Management and Test Automation tools is essential.
