Meta is seeking an attorney to join as Counsel/Lead Counsel, Global Enterprise Wide Employment Law (GEWEL) in our Employment Law & Investigations Team. This position will report to the Director & Associate General Counsel, Employment Law.

You will provide legal advice and counsel, with a focus on issues that arise in both the EMEA and NORAM region. This attorney will provide legal support, help ensure compliance with and provide education on a wide range of EMEA and NORAM compensation and benefit related issues, with particular focus on pay transparency and pay reporting, alongside advice on NORAM leaves and accommodations.

Counsel, Employment Law & Investigations Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice, counsel, and support to the Compensation, Benefits and Accommodations teams, including advising and assisting on the design, implementation, and administration of Meta’s compensation, benefits, leave and accommodation programs, and compliance with pay reporting requirements

  • Draft and revise employment and benefit related agreements and policies, including offer letters, severance agreements, confidentiality agreements, employee handbooks and policies, and other employment related documents, applicable to Meta’s various global employees

  • Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities related to the above substantive legal areas and provide proactive advice to the Employment Law Group and relevant stakeholders

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as other attorneys and key stakeholders in the business on all legal issues impacting compensation, benefits, leaves and accommodations and provide guidance and support to ensure consistency and compliance

  • Participate in creation and delivery of training related to employment and benefit law matters

  • Support audits, process reviews, and new policy creation and implementation related to any compensation, benefits, leaves or accommodation programs

  • Facilitate process improvements, create efficiencies, and provide trainings as necessary

  • Travel throughout the US and possibly internationally as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)

  • Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)

  • 3+ years of experience in labor and employment law

  • Experience providing legal advice and counsel on US and EMEA compensation, leave and accommodation matters.

  • Flexibility and willing to work extended hours when necessary to connect with colleagues in across global regions

  • Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills

  • Effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in labor and employment law

  • Prior experience advising on all aspects of labor and employment, including for example benefits, contingent workforce matters, recruiting selection practices, international employment issues and supporting clients outside the United States on pay transparency and reporting, and benefit related matters (medical, pension and health and welfare plans)

  • Prior in-house legal department experience

  • Experience coordinating and driving to completion large-scale projects

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
